When it comes to growing and buying fruits and vegetables, we all know that there many ways to go about it. This summer I discovered a new (to me) way of gathering delicious fruits, vegetables, and honey that fits me and my lifestyle perfectly – buying directly from local farms with a community supported agriculture (CSA) program. They are gaining serious local popularity! I chose Wake Robin Farm’s CSA.
I’d like to thank Ryan, Adam, and Amanda of Wake Robin Farm for allowing me to pick their brain on things farming and food related – namely, to understand how a CSA works, why buying local matters, to learn what goes on behind the scenes and to meet the hearts behind the food.
I have a new hobby, and by extension, a tag line of sorts. It’s, “I’ve got an oil for that!”.
Sun burn? Lavender. Under the weather? On Guard. Sticky mess? Lemon. Headache? Peppermint. Cramps? Clary Calm. Scar? Frankincense. The list goes on! I am so thankful that my closest friends are jumping on the same bandwagon. We all have a strong desire to consume fewer chemicals, to simplify our lives, and to make our homes safe for each other and future generations.
This past weekend I shared tea and goodies with some wonderful women, and bonus, there were essential oils abounding. In diffusers, in hands, in laundry soap, (oh my!). We are discovering that low and behold, these wee essential oils may be one of the keys to a happy and healthy home. Sharing the possibilities here seemed the right thing to do. Starting with, mouthwash, no matter how random it may seem be. It’s seriously minty fresh.
